M. Abdul Hameed@Hameed, was born in Thuravoor Village of Alappuzha District in Kerala. He is an ex IPS Officer having put in 38 years of service in the police department of kerala. he has been writing detective fiction for the last 5 decades and has to his credit about 20 books both fiction, nonfiction and translation. one of his novels has become a cinema. he has also written radio dramas for door darshan
he was a member of the kerala sahitya akademi executive , served several terms as director of the writers cooperative society, kerala, and continues to serve as the executive committe member of the sahitya parishath, a prestigious writers organisation of kerala and also served as its general secretary once. he is an active member of various social organisations. he represented india in the internationsl congress of crime writers held in sweden in 1981. he has visited several foreign countries. he is married and settled in kochi with wife and two children
